The Lego Town Has Gone!
I re-read The Prophet in the bath last night. So Lush moment was Happy Hippy, well, it had to be really didn’t it…. ![]()
By the time I’d finished reading, most of the bubbles had disappeared, so I had time to play. Like you do. I like making ripples, I like watching the way they cancel each other out, it reminds me of an old physics lesson….
Then I made big ripples in a Perfect Storm style ( nod and a wink to Amanda
). It just needed a mini Clooney to complete the scene. Of course, if push came to shove, I’d make do with the life-size version. But only if I had to, you understand….if there really was no alternative….and only if he was bored on a Wednesday evening….and needed a bath….
Remembering suddenly, that I am indeed a mother of two, and that the youngest is lurking nearby, I’ll stop daydreaming and get on with it….
Lisa brought Olivia back about ten this morning. I managed to persuade her (Olivia, not Lisa), that the Lego town really had taken up enough floor space for much longer than was convenient. So she grudgingly dismantled it, not quite, the main components are still intact and placed very carefully in the Lego box. Even the plaster and ‘rocks’ from the mine have found a safe haven somewhere upstairs. I’ve yet to discover their location. That’ll be a nice treat for me later.
Then it was real, proper home-education with a vengeance. We can tick the boxes for English, science, maths, fractions and decimals, algebra (she’s got 3 different maths books on the go) and geography. She started flagging a bit when it came to history, Spanish and the Bible project. So I let her have some dry crusts and stale water….as a reward for all her hard work, ‘cos I’m kind like that. ![]()
While she was doing her learning thing, I got down a book that we’d got on our little jaunt down to Cornwall last year with Lisa and the girls. We got it in the Tate, oh look, here’s a pic, fancy that….

We went inside as well, and not just to buy a book, we looked at Art. The book is Mathematical Window Patterns. I got it down for a very good reason. Yesterday, in the post, I got a little parcel. Addressed to me. Which makes it mine. It was a little parcel of kite paper. For me. Because it had my name on it. It came from Early Learning Materials. Ooh, I thought. I’ve got a book which will provide inspiration. So I’ll be making lots of pretty window patterns with my kite paper. Because it’s mine. Can you tell I’m still bearing a grudge? ![]()
I may let Olivia have maybe one sheet of the paper, maybe two. We could do a trade….one sheet per cup of tea….I’ll put it to her and see what she says. ![]()
A bit of an arty afternoon. Last Easter, Olivia made some daffodils, and as it’s St Davids day today, she made some more. But these ones are going to Di as a little pressie. Because she likes flowers. I may have mentioned it before. We also had a go at one of the kits we got from Poundland a few weeks ago. It is supposed to be paint squirted into a wire frame shaped into petals, which, once dried, can then be made into 3D flowers . Are you getting the vibe that it’s not going to do what it said on the tin? Me too. It takes about 12 hours to dry. So we’ll see. If it works, Di will be getting yet more flowers for her birthday. ![]()
We also got lots of bits and pieces ready to go in Olivia’s scrapbook for Hina Matsuri, and she stuck down the backing paper.
She also did her very first scrapbook page, in a proper album, using some of her wonderful prize from Eleanor. Except the photo of Adam and Olivia. That came from me. There will be a photo at some point. I’ve scanned it, but I want to trim the image, and I haven’t worked out how to do that yet. Because I’m a complete luddite when it comes to computering things. I may give up though (I more than likely will!), and just use the pic as it is, complete with the front cover of the album, that’s the bit I don’t want included. I asked Adam, but I think he’s had enough now of being a perfect son, and grunted at me, “I dunno!” In the manner of “Don’t even talk to me, Mother!” Then he went off to play football….

“Yes dear, go play football dear, be careful, won’t you dear?”
Olivia spent a lot of time practising all different styles of lettering fromLetter Better, part of my her prize.
Now she’s realised she’s hungry. The meager rations at lunch weren’t good enough apparently. One kite paper for cooking dinner is not enough either. Which means I have to cook. Again. But I cooked last night….it’s not fair….oh wait….it was only me in the house.
And a quick funny before I go skipping joyfully into the kitchen….
