The poet’s name…

Filed under: Olivia, Arts and Crafts, Friends, Just for fun - Jo @ 9:58 pm

…on Friday was Phil Bowen. He’s a professional too! I found one of his poetry class thingys and showed it to Olivia, so she wants to have a go at that as well.
That was this morning. I think that was about it for the morning. Oh no, wait, Olivia did a couple more book reviews. For books she’d finished reading. She’s taken my advice and found it’s a lot easier to write a review once you’ve read the book.
We cycled over to Di’s after lunch. Di wanted to get started on an outdoor plastic bottle top tree sculpture for her garden. We counted out and sorted hundreds of plastic bottle tops. In various colours, mainly blue. At one point the floor was covered in hundreds of blue plastic bottle tops.
Blue.
Plastic.
Now why on earth would I keep mentioning that??
We told Di all about our quest on Sunday and the photo prompts. AHA!!! The last two prompts have been….Blue….and….Plastic….Woah! Twilight zone or what?!!!
Did I take my camera? Did I heck as like!! Doh!! But we’ve decided that as we had such fun on Sunday, we’re going to do the prompts in chunks like that again. Just not four and a half hour chunks. I like to be able to sit down without saying “Ow!”
The bottle tops have holes in now, but the wire was too floppy to thread them on to, so that was as far as we got. Di’s going to get some thicker, more sturdy wire to make the tree.
Olivia made a mini bonfire to toast some bread. But the fire was too mini, so Di shoved it in the toaster instead.
We’ve made plans to make bigger fires to cook on. Barbecue is the word I’m struggling for. So we’ll stay longer when the weather’s warmer, for dinner. Cooked on an open fire. Like a barbecue….yeah….barbecue….I’m feeling a tad flaky tonight, many apologies….
We cycled home again. Olivia very happy, because I felt she’s a confident enough rider to be let loose on some of the minor roads. Me very happy, because I managed to conquer a junction without being all wimpy and getting off to cross it with Olivia. Wahay!!
We’d left Di’s later than usual, so missed Lisa who’d already gone out.
Got home, not hungry in the slightest. So I started me blog, and Olivia started another collage, like we did on Friday. With Anthony Frost. He’s a proper artist don’t you know.

In a sudden arty moodInspired by Anthony Frost againStickingMore stickingAlmost finished sticking

We save everything (and I mean, everything!) from anything we do so we have a box full of scraps….paper, tissue, wool, shiny paper, foam, bubble wrap, netting, etc, etc, etc…. The whole lot got dumped out and Olivia got sticking. Then painting.

Tidying scrap awayPaintingMore paintingYep...more paintingAdding detail

And after all that?

Finally!

Look….she got to empty the whole entire scrap box over the floor, use half a gallon of glue, way more paint and stay up ’til gone 9. She is one happy bunny!!
I did my usual drifting about the place, taking photos, cooking dinner, thinking of doing some ironing, then thinking what a really stupid idea that was and put it very firmly out of my head.
We had dinner after Olivia had finished the main blocks of paint, but before she put dots and stripes and circles and wiggly lines on it.

And another one…

“Human beings are the only animals that stutter”, the teacher explained.

A little girl raises her hand. “I had a kitty-cat who stuttered”, she volunteered.

The teacher, knowing how precious some of these stories could become, asked the girl to describe the incident.

“Well”, she began, “I was in the back yard with my kitty and the rottweiler that lives next door got a running start and before we knew it, he jumped over the fence into our yard!

“That must’ve been scary”, said the teacher.

“It sure was”, said the little girl. “My little kitty went ‘Fffff, Fffff, Fffff’… and before he could say “F**k,” the rottweiler ate him!”
