Allotmenting(?)
Not sure if that’s a real word or not….well, it is now….and I claim copyright! ![]()
Up bright and early to cycle over to Di’s allotment for the first visit this year.
Late last year, the shed got burnt down, which was devastating for Di. She’s had a fair few ‘gathering’ type things there and has a lot of memories connected with it. But she felt silly getting all worked up about a bog-standard shed. It was a little bit special to go along and see something growing among the ruins….

We all went, “Aaaahhh!”….well, it was nice!!! ![]()
Some grass cutting along the path and some general sorting out/tidying up for today. Olivia planted some King Henry and Lamb’s lettuce, ate some wild Lamb’s lettuce, sowed some wildflower seeds, ate some rocket flowers, dug over a little patch, and was very pleased to see the broad beans she planted last year are already flowering.

I’d remembered to take along sandwiches, parsnip cake and a very large flask of tea for refreshment purposes. But after happily supping the entire flask, remembered that there are no loos at the allotment…. ![]()
So the three of us traipsed back to Di’s for a toilet break….and to refill bladders with more tea. ![]()
One of Di’s sons had bought her Wall and Piece, by Banksy for Mother’s Day. We had a look through it, blooming good! I want one now!!
After another loo break, we cycled back to town, stopping off at the community centre to see Anderson. Olivia asked the receptionist if he was there, she went to get him, apparently said “A little girl’s asking for you.” He came out to see us, put his arm round Olivia and said, “This isn’t a little girl, this is my young lady. And she’s home-educated which is even better!” Cue for a very giggly, blushing Olivia. ![]()
And not only is she having her own bed in the garden, she’s getting to pick which one she wants before anyone else. And Anderson let her help herself to loads of bourbon biscuits! ![]()
Then we went to the museum for Olivia to do another worksheet. One on the silver collection. Finished it, went downstairs to collect her pack of cards. Opened it….still not got the one she needs. Gnnh!! Grabbed another worksheet, the glass collection and we trotted upstairs….again. Sat down on one of the chairs to read through the questions and got into a long chat with one of the staff. The same one who was handing out cards last week. We think his name’s Mark or Marcus. Olivia tried swapping cards with him, but he still needs 7 or 8, and he hasn’t got the one Olivia needed. Anyway, he explained more about the imminent closure of the museum. One of the back corner’s is sinking into a medieval ditch…. ![]()
They’re hoping it’ll only be closed for 2 years, but the part that’s being knocked down completely is 150-200 years old, so there could be lots of archeological finds (it backs onto the roman wall as well) which will hold everything up. A bit of a Catch 22, nice to find more ’stuff’, not nice to have the museum closed for longer than it has to be…. ![]()
He went off to do his door opening routine, but popped back about two minutes later with two more packs of cards. “But don’t tell anyone, because I’ll get shot!” ![]()
The first pack had the missing card!!! Yay!! She has the complete set!!! Finally!!! She still finished the worksheet and went downstairs to get another pack of cards. That pack had the elusive Carrot Amphorae too!!! So then we had to traipse round the museum again, hunting for Mark/Marcus so Olivia could give him a couple of the cards he didn’t have. Think he only needs about 4 now. And he was very complimentary about home-education as well. Olivia got all giggly girly again. ![]()
Cycled home via Lisa’s again. More chat and more tea. Needed another loo break before we left. ![]()
Got home, Olivia wanted all her RAMM cards laminated with a hole in the top, so she could keep them all together, they got done and made into a little booklet type thingy….

No cooking pictures tonight….we only had frozen nutburgers, chips and peas….and a photo of that would be boring! ![]()
I’m being rushed now….Adam’s hovering behind me, desperate to do some college work that has to be in first thing tomorrow. ![]()
So I’ve got no time to find funnies or read blogs….I’ll have to catch up with them all in the morning.
I’ll just sneak in this quickie I saw on Dottyspots this morning….

Your Personality is Very Rare (INTP) |
![]() Your personality type is goofy, imaginative, relaxed, and brilliant. Only about 4% of all people have your personality, including 2% of all women and 6% of all men |
But does that mean I have more of a ‘blokey’ personality? And is that a good thing or a bad thing?
I’ll think about it in the bath….
